Moscow Part 2

So once again I forgot to keep up with my blog.
After Nizhny Novgorod, I returned to Moscow for a few days of adventure.
Highlights include meeting an soviet sub-mariner who supported Glasgow Rangers, splitting a bottle of single malt with a bar-man in a brew pub (and only paying for my dinner and my first beer), visiting the space museum, going to the Museum of Soviet Arcade machines, visiting the Soviet Monument Graveyard, getting lost in some of the cities parks, finding a vodka bar and sampling some of the better (more expensive) vodkas they sold, and joining some local teenagers laughing at American tourists getting searched by the police as they went to the Red Square.
Moscow is a cool city, the public transport is very good, food, drink and entertainment are quite cheap, the vodka is tasty. The locals are fantastic, however the local police and security guards are extremely strict. While watching tourists being stopped beside the Red Square, they almost always got a fine (which was always paid on the spot). I'm not saying the police force is corrupt, but I'm sure if they were paid a better wage the number of tourists being fined would go down. The underground/metro stations are amazing. They are so deep and well decorated. I was told they double as nuclear bomb shelters, which I could believe especially when you see the large metal doors and how far underground they are.

The Soviet Monument Graveyard was great, however was a bit of a trek to get to. The Space Museum was cool. They had loads of things to do and lots to look at, well worth a visit. However I think my favourite attraction had to be the Soviet Arcade Museum. Your entry fee gives you tokens to play the arcade machines. Perfect for a gamer geek, interesting for non-gamers, and just good fun.
